On Friday, December 4th, all Hirsch teachers met with their "crews" to have a celebration of our little families. Teams discussed grades, attendance, and what makes everyone motivated to stay successful students. The picture below of my awesome crew over our "family dinner," less one student who was not in attendance on Friday.
Chicago Star has already been helping pay tuition for students attending City Colleges but now the program is expanding even further. https://www.facebook.com/chicagopublicschools/posts/1056094397744256
After spending my first week with the wonderful HIrsch students and staff, I am thankful for the fate of my career leading me into such a wonderful community that I will soon be calling home. We definitely have a lot of work to do, both students and staff, but it is going to be worth it. When we as your educators talked about how we envision Hirsch, we used words like happy, safe-place, smart, innovative, role models, student-lead, peaceful, competitive, and fun! I think this week was a great step to filling the halls with those words. From college trips to live radio DJs in our very own cafeteria, I think that we had a pretty solid first week. I heard so many students say that this year was going to be their fresh start or their clean slate - I believe that wholeheartedly. Let's make it an awesome revival for each of ourselves ANNNNND Hirsch as a school. Love you all already!
